Holy Cow!
We've had lots of fun at Wrigley Field over the years, but nothing tops Sunday night. Bo and Ellie took in their first Cubbie game and even got to see them win. Given the result, we're thinking Dusty and the boys should invite the kids back to keep the mojo going.
The Cubs had lost eight in a row coming into this series, but they managed to take three out of four from the Cardinals. For our friends cheering for St. Louis, be sure to note that if the Cubs only played the Cardinals this year, they would be leading the Central Division. Chicago leads the season series, 6-3.
Anyway, the kids loved having fun at the old ballpark. They enjoyed corn dogs, a churro and a chocolate malt cup. And, they really caught on to cheering for hits and good plays in the field. The only problem was that with so many St. Louis fans in attendance, the kids often were fooled into cheering for the wrong team.
Sunday's game started at 7 p.m., and the kids made it through the top of the eighth inning before we decided to call it a night. They enjoyed the seventh inning stretch serenade of Take Me Out To The Ballgame, and they had lots of fun with all the people sitting around us.
In another Holy Cow moment, the kids made their first trip to the Indiana State Fair last night. Bo is into petting every animal he can get his hands on. He even went as far as putting his hand in a cow's nose. Ellie approaches the Fair a little differently. She wants to get right up by the animals, but she usually pulls her hand back just before touching them.
So, to recap the last 48 hours. We visited the Friendly Confines, put our hand up a cow's nose, topped off an evening at the Fair with a few bites of Mom's funnel cake and went home to lie down on new blankets the Singermans sent us over the weekend. That's living.
